February’s Luncheon was held in the Visitor’s Locker Room. RBI Club members and guests heard from an all-star media cast: TV game day host, Brad Adam; post game field reporter, Shannon Drayer; Seattle Times baseball writer, Larry Stone; MLB Mariners writer, Greg Johns; and Radio Broadcast voice of the Mariners, Rick Rizzs.

After brief introductions, the floor was opened to questions and the RBI Club members didn’t hold back.  One member wanted to know what it was like when the “Griffey sleeping article” was released.  Another wanted to know which player the media thought would be “the most pleasant surprise.”

Larry Stone said, “When you struggle as much as the Mariners, everyone has the potential to be a pleasant surprise, but I think the guy would be Eric Bedard.”

The Mariners pleasant surprise might come from Bedard, like Stone predicted.  Of course, there could be a real surprise from the handful of other names mentioned by the media.  One thing is certain, the Mariners are beginning an incredibly intriguing season.

Also of note was the Exclusive Auction at our February Luncheon.  $475.00 was raised for charity.  RBI Club member, Nancy Yee, won a once in a lifetime opportunity to throw the first pitch at a Mariners game, plus four 100 level seats.  RBI Club member, Elisa Thomases, won Spring Training tickets to watch the Mariners face off against the Dodgers and a parking pass.
