This month’s RBI club featured 24-year-old outfielder Hershel Mac “Boog” Powell. He started playing baseball when he was a kid as a pitcher when he coincidently pitched against Bryce Harper. Also, coincidently his best friend as a child now plays for the Pirates minor league team. He continued to pitch up until high school before he began playing outfield.

Powell was drafted to the Rays before being traded to the Mariners. When asked about the Mariners’ recent challenges he simply answered, “That’s just baseball”.

When he is not playing baseball, he enjoys traveling. He also enjoys rollerblading and video games. It was a pleasure to hear Boog Powell’s stories.
